Julia’s first experience tutoring started in her senior year of college at UC Davis, where she was selected to teach organic chemistry to student athletes. Later, she was promoted to host weekly, small group sessions as the head tutor. After graduating Cum Laude, Julia pursued a master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at UC Davis. She taught in various class sizes, ranging from small groups to big lecture halls. As a teaching assistant, she took pride in ushering her students through the complexities of organic chemistry, and she became quite adept at delivering complex information in a clear and effective manner. However, despite her experiences in classroom settings, Julia still found one-on-one sessions with her students to be the most rewarding.
As a teacher, Julia makes a point to get to know her students so she can be both a tutor and a mentor. While at Davis, she not only taught materials to help her students achieve higher scores, she also encouraged them to take ownership over their learning process. Julia helps her students foster independent thinking through repetition and problem solving. Although chemistry is her favorite subject, she is well-equipped to teach all levels of mathematics, physics, biology, ACT/SAT prep, Chinese or any science-related subject.
If Julia is not teaching, she is working and learning as a medical scribe. Outside of the working world, she is a certified pianist who adores the works of Frederic Chopin, Franz Liszt and J.S. Bach, to name a few. In her free time, she paints, draws and enjoys watching e-sports.
