Becca Hammar was born and raised in the Central Valley of California. From a young age, she competed in track and field, ultimately pursuing it all the way to the Division 1 level. She attended Stanford University, where she was a scholar-athlete, majoring in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing while also competing in shot put, hammer, and discus on the Varsity Track and Field team.
After graduating from Stanford, Becca’s knack for writing carried her to a Palo Alto-based startup, where she served as Head of Content Creation and Community Manager. Becca’s departure from “The Farm” was brief, however, as she soon returned to Stanford University as an Admission Counselor in the Office of Undergraduate Admission. Here, Becca read and evaluated thousands of applications from three different states while serving as a member of the Marketing, Events, and Yield team.
Through her work in highly selective admissions, Becca realized that she wanted to move to the other side of the desk, working one-on-one with high school students in hopes of demystifying the college application process.
Becca enjoys spending time outdoors with her partner and her black lab Howie, whether it’s camping, fishing, hanging at the beach, or just taking a stroll around the ranch on which she lives. She also continues to spread her passion for track and field by coaching athletes in the throwing events in her spare time.
