Alex Burston grew up in London, but attended both British and American schools throughout her primary and secondary education. Her educational journey then took her to Yale University for her undergraduate years, where she studied art history, sang acapella for the group “Proof of the Pudding”, (just like Pitch Perfect), and led her residential college council.
After graduating from Yale, Alex returned to London and received her master’s degree in curation from the Courtauld Institute of Art in London. She is now pursuing her PhD in post-war British figurative painting at the University of East Anglia and dreams of running a museum in London someday.
Her work with students is focused on helping both British and American students prepare for and successfully navigate the US college admissions process. Alex is one of ESM’s top college counselors, with a dedicated history of helping students achieve success in the admissions process. She is also an ACT and SAT expert, and she tutors for AP subject exams and SAT subject tests as well. She loves working with students and seeing the “light bulb” moment when they understand something after diligent work and practice.
When she is not working with her students, Alex can be found walking her two dogs, Penny and Ollie, cheering on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge with her brother Joe, pretending to be a contestant on Great British Bake Off with her sister Laura, or exploring new nooks of her favorite museums.
