Chad is an Academic Mentor specializing in mathematics, English, and standardized test preparation for the ACT and SAT as well as an experienced College Counselor. He is also a credentialed educator, working as a middle school math teacher in the Lafayette School District. Chad is committed to helping students pursue their academic goals while they each grow as a holistic person.
Chad grew up in Southern California, the son of two public school teachers. He was named Valedictorian of his high school class, and was honored to captain both his varsity basketball and volleyball teams. He chose to attend Westmont College, a small liberal arts college in Santa Barbara, which was truly his “best fit” school. Chad was able to study abroad three times (Northern Europe, San Francisco, and Haiti), receive the Outstanding Senior award for Sociology, and meet his wife, Karis.
While working with students always interested Chad, his passion genuinely escalated during his summers as a camp counselor. He was able to mentor students daily and encourage them to become their best selves, all while having a fun time. Chad earned his teaching credential at Vanguard University, and worked as a test preparation tutor in Southern California. He moved to the East Bay in 2017, and has since taught middle school math, coached his school’s girls basketball team, tutored students from all backgrounds and contexts, and help students gain admission to top colleges all around the country.
Chad believes in teaching strong study habits, critical thinking skills, and functional methods for organization. He holds his students to high expectations, and enjoys providing support along the way.
