Douglas is one of ESM’s personal statement and college supplement essay experts. He helps students find their voice throughout the essay process by encouraging out-of-the-box thinking and self-reflection. He is also an ACT/SAT mentor and enjoys helping students strategize their college goals.
Born in New York City to an Argentine mother and American father, Douglas’s first language was Spanish and is also semi-fluent in French. He grew up within the American school system, eventually graduating from ASIJ in Tokyo where his time as a 3 season athlete taught him balance and leadership.
Douglas left Japan for the lively Vanderbilt scene, but soon after took a gap year and transferred to Claremont McKenna College, where he played Rugby and Club Soccer. He graduated with honours with degrees in Film and Religion, and a sequence in Leadership Studies. After a brief tenure in experiential marketing, Douglas returned to school to pursue a Masters of Science degree in Japanese Acupuncture Philosophy from TSCA in New York.
When he isn’t editing essays or mentoring, you’ll find him eating ice cream, playing FIFA, or writing movie scripts.
