Frances has had a passion for mentoring and teaching ever since high school. From coaching ultimate frisbee to teaching quantum mechanics, Frances has been able to share their passions with others in many areas. Helping students explore not only what their academic interests are, but also explore what their values and goals are, is something that Frances has always found fulfilling.
Frances grew up in western Massachusetts where they attended a performing arts high school, and, to avoid the snow, moved out to California to attend University of California Santa Cruz. After never taking a chemistry class in high school, Frances discovered the beauty of chemistry at UCSC, and got their degree in it. During college Frances balanced captaining the college ultimate team, doing research, maintaining academic excellence, and teaching. After graduating Frances has been exploring both a career in material chemistry and teaching. Frances understands the challenge of juggling the many aspects of student life, and enjoys working with students to discover what strategies work best to balance everything.
