Raymond is a Stanford-trained engineer originally from Cary, North Carolina. As a high schooler at Cary Academy, he developed a strong appreciation for education through his four-year participation in an after-school tutoring program geared towards helping elementary school students on the ESL track. It was during that volunteering experience where he gained the ability to not only decompose complex topics into their fundamental components but also present those topics in a variety of ways, adapting his teaching style to best fit the learning style of the particular student. He truly understands the value of a college education and wants to get involved in his community by serving as a resource for college applications in addition to general academic support.
Raymond currently works full-time as a software engineer, but he has had a variety of interesting experiences throughout his time at Stanford, ranging from launching a startup tech company to helping build a solar-powered car that raced in Australia! Although comfortable in the tech industry, his true passion lies in entrepreneurship. Raymond knows that success in entrepreneurship is an ongoing and iterative process, and strives to share these values with students he works with in order to instill a patient yet persistent drive for knowledge in his students.
Raymond mentors students in all math, science, and English classes in addition to the ACT and SAT. In his free time, Raymond is generally tinkering with micro-controllers, watching Shark Tank, or studying for the GMAT. He also likes to play pickup basketball and enjoys cooking dinners with friends and family. He loves exotic and high-end cars and spends a lot of time dreaming up billion-dollar company ideas in order to one day be able to afford them all!
