8 Tips for Navigating the Boarding School Application Process

Boarding schools are more popular than ever. Admissions offices have seen an increase in interest due to academic, social and athletic experiences that were lost during COVID. These school environments provide for a wide range of classes, athletics, arts, and community service, and encourage less screen-time and more active community engagement.

The best way to get information about boarding schools and prepare for the admissions process is to:

1. Fill out an inquiry form on the admissions page of each school of interest
2. Schedule a tour and interview
3. Reach out to arts directors and coaches to meet when on campus
4. Follow the school on social media (Twitter/Facebook/Instagram)
5. Attend admissions webinars
6. Check on testing requirements and register for tests if necessary
7. Let your student's principal, Math and English teachers know that you will need recommendations before winter break
8. Start the applications over Thanksgiving break and finish before winter break
