J.K. Rowling
Bijal mentors students in math, physics, chemistry, and biology, as well as test prep for both the SAT and ACT. She graduated from Esperanza High School in Anaheim, California and holds a degree in Molecular Environmental Biology and Public Policy from UC Berkeley. Her journey as a pre-med led her to learn more about the Physician Assistant (PA) profession, and she is currently a PA student at USC where she continues to mentor K-16 students about various healthcare professions.
After graduating from UC Berkeley, she worked in the protein sciences department at Novartis, conducting research on novel gene editing techniques and later joined a dermatology startup in Jack London Square, Oakland. During her undergraduate studies, she was a member of a national organization called Peer Health Exchange where she taught health education topics throughout various high schools in the Bay Area. In addition to volunteering, she also worked for Fun with Academics, a non-profit organization educating children through hands-on STEM projects.
She is passionate about teaching and is excited to mentor students at ESM Prep. Her experiences in shadowing physicians, participating in research, and working at a healthcare startup have given her invaluable insight into medicine and science, particularly within Bay Area communities. She hopes to be a resource for students interested in pursuing these occupations in the future. In her free time she loves being outdoors, participating in team sports, playing with her puppy Koda, and trying new restaurants. She is quite the dog whisperer, and enjoys attending foodie events through the Yelp Elite community.
