Essay Coaching
Laurelin brings nearly a decade of experience working with high school students on college essay writing, test prep, and academic achievement. Originally from a high desert valley in Colorado, Laurelin attended Yale University and earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in American Studies with a concentration in literary, audio, and visual cultures. She is also a graduate of the Transom Story Workshop, where she studied storytelling and narrative radio production.
As a writing coach and mentor, Laurelin leads with curiosity, warmth, and humor. Her ultimate goal is to help students gain confidence in their own insights and abilities and learn to express themselves effectively. Laurelin has led creative writing workshops in high schools and universities around the country and taught test prep courses to hundreds of students. Her college essay students have been admitted to Yale, Harvard, Princeton, UCLA, USC, and more.
Laurelin currently lives in Los Angeles. When she’s not working with students, Laurelin can be found hiking the San Gabriels with her dog Kochia or sitting in the sun with a good book. In a past life, she ran the Mobile Museum of American Artifacts, a traveling museum of people's everyday objects and their stories.
