Teren serves as a Senior Test Prep and Academic Mentor at ESM Prep with a specialization in the digital SAT, ACT, and AP exam preparation. With a deep commitment to educational excellence, Teren has devoted thousands of hours to guiding hundreds of students through their coursework and test prep journeys.
Teren's mentoring approach centers around creating an engaging, supportive, and results-driven environment for promoting student’s success. He believes that fostering an uplifting atmosphere is crucial to the learning process. Teren's teaching philosophy emphasizes building lifelong confidence and self-efficacy in a student's learning processes not only through breaking down concept mastery but also by empowering students through role reversal, allowing them to become the teachers to showcase their understanding.
Originally hailing from St. George, Utah, Teren discovered his passion for tutoring and mentorship during his senior year of high school. In this pivotal role, he served as a general tutor and teaching assistant for English, math, chemistry, and physics. His love for math and science led him to achieve a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Engineering, with a chemistry minor, from Utah State University. Beyond his undergraduate pursuits, Teren continued his mentorship journey at USU by joining Student Support Services, where he provided crucial academic support to students with learning differences. As a lifelong learner, Teren recently completed his Master’s degree in Biological Engineering at USU, focusing his research on modeling retinal disease to identify therapeutic targets for early intervention.
Teren can also be found consistently integrating his passion for learning into his personal life, whether it be through baking, cooking, reading, or indulging in TV shows and movies. On days off, he enjoys quality time with friends and family, channeling his organizational skills into reimagining the perfect hall closet layout, or exploring the San Francisco Bay area with his French bulldog, Maple.
